Apprenticeship / Dual studies

Following the path of expansion, SCHAAF upgrades the apprenticeship offers: One the one hand, the intention is to teach young people mechanical and practical skills and, on the other hand, to present a well-founded functional development in theory. Regarding these matters, long-term contacts are existent with the University "Hochschule Niederrhein", which offered the possibility to combine the apprenticeship (design draftsman or industrial mechanic) with studies (machine construction) as one of the first Universities in Northrhine-Westfalia.

The apprenticeship is reduced to 2 years in which the basic study period is completed, too. Afterwards, the main study period begins. During this time the students have the possibility to interact in the company according to their curriculum. Some of the first graduates of this educational procedure are in our company for some years now and efficiently strengthen our team. This offer is now expanded through a co-operation with the "Fachhochschule Aachen": a similar concept exists regarding the combination of the apprenticeship for industrial mechanics (alternatively also for design draftsmen) and machine construction studies. The partition of time schedule is slightly different from the schedule at "Hochschule Niederhein".

Because of the dual approach a necessarily huge liability evolves. The students are given the chance to prove their resilience and their endurance. Basically, we hereby hope to constantly enlarge our workforce by adding practical thinking graduates with good background knowledge and high resilience. The required support of the students is given by the body of experience of our staff and due to flexible and flat hierarchies and therefore, short and quick decision making.
