On the occasion of the centenary celebration of the esteemed late founder of our company, Martin Schaaf, which falls on the 12th of May, 2023, we are deeply honored to commemorate his extraordinary life journey. Mr. Schaaf commenced his professional career in 1937 at the esteemed Wirth company in Erkelenz, initially serving as a turning operator, and later excelling as an engineer specializing in pump construction. During his tenure, he exhibited profound ingenuity by developing groundbreaking pump technologies, including a pivotal solution in 1951— the invention of a closure for high-pressure housings. This transformative innovation laid the groundwork for hydraulic bolt clamping devices, which found wide applications across diverse industries.  Following a successful tenure at Wirth, Mr. Schaaf joined GEHO-Pompen in Venlo. However, he opted to depart from the company due to quality issues with the supplied steel. Undeterred by this setback, he decided to embark on an entrepreneurial journey and established his own venture, “Martin Schaaf, Hydraulik-Spanntechnik.” Despite initial uncertainties, Mr. Schaaf’s unwavering commitment to excellence and his extensive network in the industry played pivotal roles in swiftly attracting clientele, leading to remarkable success for his company. The enterprise experienced exponential growth and eventually relocated to larger premises. After a long and illustrious career, at the age of 67, Martin Schaaf gracefully handed over the reins of his company to his accomplished successor, engineer Ralf Koellges. Mr. Schaaf’s visionary inventions and remarkable entrepreneurial contributions  not only advanced hydraulic tensioning technology but also left an indelible impact on the pump manufacturing industry as a whole. As we mark the 100th anniversary of Martin Schaaf’s birth, we take great pride in paying homage to his enduring legacy and accomplishments.
